Mechanism of development of turbulent boundary layer in a curved circular pipe under supersonic conditions

This study investigates the characteristics of a turbulent boundary layer in curved circular pipe under an inflow Ma = 3.0. The consisted straight part and with turning angle 36° radius curvature, γ R/Rc, 0.0825. nanoparticle-based planar laser scattering technique was applied to visualize structure instantaneous flow field, large eddy simulation conducted uncover physical aspects development layer. distributions density vorticity, baroclinic pressure caused by gradients, other quantities were analyzed. asymmetry pipe, as influenced secondary flow, oblique shock, obtained on inner wall gradually thickened while that outer thinned. took mainstream bend drew low-energy fluid its bend, which led gradual thickening from along circumferential direction.
